Chapter 14 Liu Yuanyi

Chapter 14 Liu Yuanyi

Time passes quietly with the clang of the train.

The Fengcheng Railway Station was crowded with people, and the noise and chaos on the platform came into view. Zheng Wenjie picked up Gong Ruomei's suitcase, turned his head and said to her with concern: "Master, please follow me, don't get lost."

Since she coldly agreed to Zheng Wenjie's request, Gong Ruomei remained silent for the rest of the time and responded coldly to Zheng Wenjie's words. She just looked at Zheng Wenjie coldly as he volunteered to take over her luggage, and now when she heard this, she just nodded slightly to show that she understood.

Zheng Wenjie took a deep breath, trying to get rid of the noise around him. His enhanced sense of smell could clearly smell the thick smell of coal smoke from the train. After passing through the bustling crowd, Zheng Wenjie finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, Zheng Wenjie felt Gong Ruomei patting his arm gently. He turned his head to look at her. Gong Ruomei still didn't say anything, but just raised her head and motioned him to look at the two people standing not far away. Zheng Wenjie didn't ask any more questions. He knew that someone would come to pick her up, so he followed Gong Ruomei towards the two people.

"Gong Er, the journey has been long and you have worked hard." A young man in a dark Zhongshan suit said with a smile. His collar and chest were carefully sewn, looking neat and upright, and there was a pen in his pocket.

Gong Ruomei smiled: "I'm fine, thank you for picking me up."

Liu Yuanyi carefully looked at Gong Ruomei for a while, and was relieved to see that she was fine. He turned to Zheng Wenjie who was beside Gong Ruomei and said, "Hello, I'm Liu Yuanyi."

Zheng Wenjie looked at Liu Yuanyi and felt a little annoyed. It was obvious that this man was Gong Ruomei's fiancé.

"Hello, I'm Zheng Yuanjie." Zheng Wenjie replied calmly.

Liu Yuanyi turned to the middle-aged man in a Chinese-style white gown next to him and said, "Uncle Wen, could you please help the second young lady with her luggage?"

Uncle Wen nodded, looked at Zheng Wenjie with a smile, and prepared to reach out to take the luggage.

However, Gong Ruomei shook her head and said, "No need. He is my apprentice. It is my apprentice's job to take over the master's business. Let him handle these matters."

Uncle Wen frowned slightly when he heard Gong Ruomei accepting a disciple, but Liu Yuanyi didn't care. Instead, he joked, "Gong Er, you have always been reluctant to teach me Baguazhang. Why are you suddenly accepting a disciple this time?"

Gong Ruomei didn't answer, but just shook her head: "Let's go, I have to get back to school."

The four of them walked out of the train station, and Zheng Wenjie was a little surprised when he saw the bustling streets.

The train station behind me is a western-style brick and stone building, with walls and arched doors and windows that look simple and elegant. Rickshaws and bicycles shuttle back and forth at the train station entrance in front of me, and further away, two black cars are quietly parked on the roadside.

Liu Yuanyi led the group towards the car. The driver got out of the car as soon as he saw them approaching, and saw Zheng Wenjie holding a suitcase in both hands. He quickly opened the trunk and reached out to Zheng Wenjie to take the luggage.

Zheng Wenjie did not immediately hand the luggage to the driver. He turned to look at Gong Ruomei: "Master?"

Seeing Gong Ruomei nod slightly, Zheng Wenjie handed the luggage to the driver and said with gratitude: "Thank you for your help."

"It's okay." The driver responded politely, then quickly put the luggage into the trunk and opened the back door. "Master, Second Miss, please get in the car."

Liu Yuanyi turned to Zheng Wenjie and showed a friendly attitude: "Since you are learning martial arts from the second lady, I will also call you Wenjie. You look quite young."

Zheng Wenjie smiled and nodded: "I am just seventeen years old this year."

"I'm a few years older than you. Just call me Brother Liu first, and you can change your name later. Let's get in the car. It's winter now and it's windy outside." Liu Yuanyi suggested.

Zheng Wenjie shook his head lightly, not wanting to bother with Liu Yuanyi. He turned to Gong Ruomei and said, "Master, I want to go back to the police station first and visit you tomorrow."

Gong Ruomei looked at Zheng Wenjie and nodded briefly: "Go ahead." After that, she got into the car.

"We'll take you back to the police station on the way." Liu Yuanyi suggested to Zheng Wenjie. "No need, Mr. Liu. You guys take Master back first, I can find a rickshaw to go back by myself." Zheng Wenjie smiled and rejected his kindness.

Liu Yuanyi patted his Zhongshan suit. Seeing that Zheng Wenjie still called him Mr. Liu, he stopped smiling, nodded, got into the car and ignored Zheng Wenjie.

Watching the car going farther and farther away, Zheng Wenjie touched his chin and fell into deep thought. He noticed that Gong Ruomei's attitude towards Liu Yuanyi was always cold. Although she was not as cold as she was to him, she didn't seem to have any feelings for him either.

Liu Yuanyi was quite caring and concerned about Gong Ruomei. After hearing what the flight attendant and Gong Ruomei said and did, Zheng Wenjie already understood the status of the police in this era.

Liu Yuanyi's housekeeper Uncle Wen didn't care at all when he saw Gong Ruomei in police uniform, let alone Liu Yuanyi. On the contrary, Liu Yuanyi was quite friendly to him when he knew that Gong Ruomei had accepted him as a disciple.

Zheng Wenjie felt a little uncomfortable with this love for Gong Ruomei. Although he had no intention of becoming a traitor to his master for the time being, he did have some feelings for Gong Ruomei.

Zheng Wenjie looked at the sky. He had been on the train for more than two hours. It was still morning, so it was a good time to go to the police department. He was quite curious about what the head of the security department was up to.

I stopped a rickshaw and saw a thin man pulling it. Although it was winter, he was only wearing a single layer of clothing, and his vest was soaked with sweat.

"Sir, where are you going?" asked the driver.

"Go to the police station." Zheng Wenjie replied.

"Okay, sit tight." The driver said as he held the handlebars with both hands, pushed the ground with his feet, and pushed the cart away.

The electric poles and buildings that combine Chinese and Western styles along the way opened Zheng Wenjie's eyes. He saw that some buildings had traditional eaves and gabled roofs, while others had Western-style brick and stone walls and round doors and windows.

"Master, how is business usually?" Zheng Wenjie asked curiously.

The driver slowed down and turned around to ask, "Sir, are you asking me?"

"Yes." Zheng Wenjie answered affirmatively.

The driver wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with a smile: "Sir, I am just a coolie pulling a cart, I don't deserve the title of master. You are so polite."

Zheng Wenjie smiled and said, "If I were to pull the cart, I would definitely not be as good as you. Your skills are much better than mine. Calling you Master is not being polite."

The driver shook his head and said, "Sir, you are embarrassing me. I'd better not be a coach anymore."

After hearing this, Zheng Wenjie stopped talking and began to observe the surrounding scenery carefully.

Seeing that Zheng Wenjie stopped talking, the driver arched his back, tensed his muscles in his arms, and began to accelerate and drive smoothly as the wheels rolled.

The Fengcheng Police Department during the Republic of China period was obviously different from the police station in Anqing County. It had its own entrance and building, covered a large area, and had a sentry box at the entrance. Two policemen stood upright with rifles on their backs, looking quite serious.

There were quite a few people entering and leaving the police station. Anyone who was not wearing a police uniform would be stopped and questioned by the police on duty.

Zheng Wenjie forced the driver to pay a silver dollar and observed for a while at the door of the police station.

He calmly took out the certificate given by Qi Yu and asked the police on duty where the office of Wu Qi, the head of the security department, was located.
