Chapter 17: Son of the Stars
【V. Prophecy】
"She boarded the ship called the Sword Eagle and set out to find Fukumitsu Island."
"However, more than ten days passed without any sign of land in sight."
"In the vastness of the eternal sea, the ship is like a small boat, at the mercy of the wind and waves."
"Earlier, in the information given by Viego."
"There is only one record of this mysterious island in the travel diary of an Ekassia person."
"The man's name is Kieran."
"According to the travel diary and the map made by the royal cartographer."
"Soon after, she sailed to her destination on the Eternal Sea."
"But unexpectedly, a white fog blocked my way."
A mysterious force seemed to be affecting the sea area, causing the Sword Eagle ship to shake violently on the sea.
Kalista climbed up from the deck and came to the observation deck.
She aimed her eye at the telescope and rotated the end of the long tube to adjust the focus, trying to identify the source of the anomaly.
However, as far as the eye can see, there is no horizon at all, only a vast expanse of white.
The white fog stood in front of the ship like a huge wall, towering hundreds of feet away. The top could not be seen, and even the skyline was submerged in the mist.
In Kalista's panic, the ship crashed straight into the wall of fog.
To her surprise, the hull did not shake violently, but instead "penetrated" through the white fog and sailed into it.
The fog wall was not a real entity, it seemed to be just a kind of empty mist.
A false alarm.
As the ship sailed in, there was a cool white mist and lingering moisture, as if it was sailing in thick clouds and rain, and everything around was hazy.
The sea surface inside was like a lake, as smooth as a mirror. Only the faint sound of boat wood and the rustling of ropes could be heard.
As the ship sailed deeper, the surroundings became increasingly eerie and quiet.
Kalista also became nervous. She gripped her spear tightly, ready to face the danger that might come at any time.
Fortunately, a long time passed and no accidents happened.
She breathed a sigh of relief, then looked at the compass in her hand. The needle was stable and the course had not deviated.
And so we drove for several hours in the fog.
Just when Kalista felt some movement above her head, her expression lit up with joy, thinking that she had reached land, the legendary Blessed Island.
However, the joy did not last long.
The compass needle in his hand suddenly spun wildly, then slowly stopped and pointed back to the direction he came from.
Kalista looked up suddenly.
She opened her eyes wide in disbelief, and before her was the towering wall of white mist again.
I'm back to the starting point!
"Ah? Are we going to take a weird route?"
"No way, the white fog may just be a natural phenomenon."
"Like the Bermuda Triangle? The magnetic field is chaotic, the ship is lost, the compass fails, and it is even possible to travel through time and space?"
"That's just a rumor. Believe in science!"
"Does Jilan have any explanation? Since Su Dada gave him a name, it means he is definitely not a supporting role."
"I mentioned this Icathian before. Maybe he will appear later."
"The strangeness of the white fog made her firmly believe that this was the location of Fukumitsu Island."
"It's just that she hasn't found a way to get in yet."
"I tried three times in a row, and was driven out by the fog three times."
"After many unsuccessful attempts, she decided to head to the nearby Wild Islands first."
"There, she met a mysterious man—"
"Razu Firoz."
"He claims to be a businessman and explorer, and sometimes he provides information and rare items and secret weapons."
"I heard he came from a port city called Oshra Vazuan." "He knows someone who can give her the answer to Bai Wu, and he is willing to take her to see that person."
"But it will cost a high price."
"She agreed."
"After paying the deposit, Philos led the way for her alone."
"She finally met the one who was revered as a prophet—"
"Soraka, Child of the Stars."
Led by Razu Firoz, they trekked through the dense jungle under the scorching sun, with the air around them filled with a unique humidity and plant fragrance.
After a long journey, the towering cliffs and rock towers gradually appeared before our eyes.
But suddenly, there was lightning and thunder on the nearby sea, and strong winds howled.
Huge waves swept in and the heavy rain stopped immediately, soaking them all in an instant.
The bad weather and steep roads made it difficult for them to move forward. Kalista used her spear as a walking stick and gritted her teeth and kept moving forward.
It was already evening when we arrived at our destination.
The rain stopped and the clouds gradually dispersed.
They were standing at the bottom of a narrow valley, surrounded by steep rock walls. The stars were shining brightly in the sky, and their reflections were in the deep pool into which the waterfall fell.
"I guess she's in there, right?" Kalista asked softly, pointing to the narrow path ahead.
Philos nodded and waved her forward.
So she clung to the cliff, walked through the trail jungle, and came behind the waterfall.
There.
A slender figure was standing on a rock, as if waiting for something.
The figure was so motionless that Kalista thought it was a statue.
But when she approached, the statue turned around and looked at her.
The outline of the figure was vaguely visible in the mist. Kalista couldn't see her face clearly, but she felt that she was beautiful and unique.
Moreover, it was different from any human or creature he had ever seen.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
She spoke slowly.
It was a female voice, as if coming from the distant sky, ethereal and without any accent.
Although Callista understood every word, she wasn't sure what language it spoke.
She walked over carefully, trying to see the source of the sound.
The creature pointed slowly around, her eyes passing through the jungle, the bay and the waterfall, her voice was soft but powerful:
“This bay, this jungle, this waterfall—everything is untouched, pristine and pure.”
"But it won't be like this forever. A city will grow from here like an ulcer. A place of lies and killing. That makes me sad."
Kalista was confused by her words and couldn't help asking:
"You're talking about things that haven't happened yet, as if you've already seen them."
"Yes."
The creature smiled softly, and its smile revealed a depth that transcended time and space.
She whispered, "I have seen it, Kamavia, Kalista of Kala Hegayari, I have been waiting for you."
"who are you?"
A breeze suddenly came and blew away the mist between them.
Kalista opened her eyes wide and her pupils suddenly shrank.
Her skin was like the lavender glow at dusk, simple and mysterious, exuding an awe-inspiring and fascinating aura.
The legs were long and graceful, with flexible joints, ending in hooves.
A crescent moon extended from her forehead, shining with moon-like brilliance.
Her voice suddenly became distant and mysterious:
"Many beings call me by different names. But I am the Child of the Stars."
"You can call me Soraka."
