Chapter 80 Black Cat and Genesis
The towering buildings, which were not yet fully constructed at this time, were covered in metal fences and fencing.
Raindrops fell on it, reflecting the lights from the distant city.
"You're not dead yet, are you? Spider-Man."
The black cat looked at Peter who was leaning against the fence and asked him.
The two were on the 25th floor, and the temperature dropped faster on the rainy night, which made Black Cat feel cold.
"You won't die just yet."
Peter replied calmly.
At this moment, his body no longer felt as painful as before, but instead he was attacked by a feeling of weakness.
I felt so weak that I didn't even have the strength to move.
This even made him wonder if the alien embryo in his body had bred something that caused him to feel weak and powerless.
Peter sat on the ground, leaning against the railing and looked up at the black cat and asked, "Why did you show up?"
"I have been investigating Jin Bing. He has had dealings with the Hand, and those elusive ninjas, those Hand killers, have appeared in this area before, so..."
She took off her blindfold, stretched, and said, "I often monitor here and saw the fight between you and that woman."
"She said your name was Parker."
The black cat turned around and looked at Peter's exoskeleton-wrapped face.
"So you really are Mr. Parker?"
She suddenly felt that her adventure today was quite rewarding.
Peter exhaled and didn't answer the black cat.
He was too exhausted to even talk and just waited for his body to return to normal.
Seeing that Peter stopped talking, Black Cat took the initiative to ask: "Okay, let's change the subject. Who is that woman who looks difficult to deal with? You seem to know her very well."
Peter refused outright.
"Shouldn't we be considered temporary partners? Spider-Man."
The black cat came closer, its green eyes close to Peter's white eyelids, "At least I helped you out just now."
If it weren't for the fact that she couldn't get Peter's mask off, she really wanted to tear it off and see the face.
"Not counting."
Peter shook his head, “That woman just now also wanted to be my partner, and you saw the result.”
After hearing what Peter said, the black cat stretched out his fingers and gently stroked Peter's face.
With a "snap", her wrist was grabbed by Peter.
"Look, little Spider, this is the difference between me and her. Maybe you will trust me more. You won't be afraid of my fingers piercing your skin."
The black cat's eyes became charming, and he said in French: "Or maybe you don't mind me stealing something."
Peter grabbed the black cat's wrist, "I'm sorry, I don't understand French. Do you think this is your stage?"
He knew the name of the woman in front of him was Felicia Hardy.
His real identity is a singer with some fame in New York.
"My stage is quite big. It's all over the city, not just here."
The black cat pulled his arm free and asked Peter, "Have you investigated me?"
"unnecessary."
Peter shook his head. “Your name often appears on Internet engines.”
"That's really an honor."
The black cat turned around and looked at the city in the distance.
On the metal railing to the left of her sight, there stood a crow. The crow was quite small, with a small tuft of red feathers on the front of its wings, which looked like a drop of blood.
The crow's silhouette and the metal pole next to it form a cross.
If you can't see clearly in the dark, you might mistake it for a cross of Jesus.
She then turned her gaze to Peter, who was leaning against the "cross" with his right hand on his knee, and suddenly she became a little dazed.
This inexplicably reminded her of the famous painting - "The Creation of Adam".
Shaking her head, she cleared the strange association from her mind and said to Peter:
"Now that you know my true identity, wouldn't you be interested in why I play the street hero?"
"not interested."
Peter responded directly: "Whether it's revenge or driven by some kind of responsibility, it has nothing to do with me, and I wouldn't be surprised if you were a believer."
"You are really too cold, Spider-Man."
Black Cat's voice was filled with lazy sexiness. She pointed to the "cross" made of crows and metal and said to Peter:
"I'm not a believer, but my father believes in something, like the cross. He thinks the horizontal line represents human beings, the present world, a world full of matter, flesh and dirt, mud, blood, stone, and bones."
"The vertical line is the sacred line representing God, which is in a dominant position. It is perpendicular to the human world and is the axis of the afterlife and the unknown world."
Peter frowned and asked her, "Is your whole family a charlatan?"
The black cat shook his head, "Of course not."
"Well, I'm sorry, I don't understand your profound metaphors. I just know that pastors often say things like 'the cross is a crossroads' to their followers."
The black cat traced its fingers lightly along the railing, "Hmm, maybe the priests are right."
She suddenly remembered why she became a black cat.
At the crossroads, I chose not to be a puppet of fate and to break the routine of life. This should be the reason why I am standing here now.
"All right, Mr. Parker."
Black Cat quickly pulled herself out of her thoughts and put on the blindfold to cover her delicate features.
"It was nice chatting with you today. I hope we can meet again next time. I helped you this time. We are even on the matter at Night Demon Law Firm last time."
After saying that, she blew a kiss to Peter, did a somersault over the railing, and then shot out the grappling hook gun with a "whoosh".
Peter, leaning against the metal railing, watched the back of the departing black cat, and the exoskeleton mask on his face slowly faded away.
He had regained some strength.
Holding the railing, he stood up.
The rain in the distant city sky made the whole city foggy. It seemed that although the rain had stopped, the fog had spread again.
The next day, early in the morning.
Peter walked slowly down the stairs.
His body had mostly recovered, and after a night's rest, the fatigue in his body had almost completely dissipated.
Although he was still puzzled by the changes in the alien embryo and worried about Helen's next move, he pretended to be calm in front of Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
He was just about to ask Uncle Ben to ask for leave for him so that he could stay at home and protect the two of them.
Suddenly I heard Uncle Ben and Aunt May talking.
Aunt May talked about the church tract.
"This propaganda is a bit old-fashioned. Look at these words - 'Jesus stood at the crossroads, and he chose not the horizontal line representing the human world, but the vertical line representing God'. I have heard this sentence many times by the pastor in the church."
Peter, who was standing on the stairs, was slightly startled when he heard Aunt May's words, which were somewhat similar to what the black cat said last night.
It seems that Black Cat's father goes to the same church as Aunt May.
Seeing Peter coming downstairs, Uncle Ben and the other man's expressions suddenly became serious.
"Peter, come here. We need to talk about you and Gwen. There are some things you both need to protect yourself from."
