Chapter 29: Slap Doctor Strange
Ten minutes ago.
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
As soon as Strange pushed open the office door, he was punched on the head.
Without any psychological expectation, he groaned in pain, covered his head and stepped back, then hit the desk with a "bang".
When he opened his eyes, he saw his younger brother, Victor, walking towards him aggressively.
"Victor?!"
Strange covered his head with his hands, and when he saw that the person coming was his brother, his anger instantly surged.
"Are you crazy?"
"Yes, I am crazy, let me see you cold-blooded animal."
Victor clenched his fists and walked towards him step by step.
"If you were a normal person, wouldn't you rush here immediately after receiving a call about your father's death? But you just said 'got it' and hung up the phone."
Victor called him last night to inform him of his father's death.
As a result, Strange just said "I know" lightly and hung up the phone.
Victor, who was completely enraged by Strange, rushed from Philadelphia to New York overnight to teach his cold-blooded brother a lesson.
Strange calmed himself down and explained, "I originally wanted to go."
"But you have more important things to do than your family, right?"
Victor snorted coldly and interrupted him.
Strange raised his hands and said calmly: "Yes, I am a doctor, you won't understand. Other people's lives depend entirely on my hands!"
Victor did not accept his brother's words and said coldly: "You are right, I don't want to understand you at all, because you are just a stupid and cowardly man!"
"what?!"
"I don't know about 'the hand of God', but at the end of the day, Doctor Strange, you're just afraid of failure."
Victor's words made Strange stunned for a moment.
"Doctor Strange, it would be easier for you to put on a white coat and act like a hero than to stand in front of me and my father and face the reality that we are powerless."
Victor continued to taunt Strange, then shook his head contemptuously and turned away.
Watching his brother leaving, Strange felt a painful struggle in his heart.
Ever since he became a doctor and achieved success, his relationship with his family has gradually become distant.
"Oh!"
Strange pounded his fist on the desk and took a deep breath.
He took a few deep breaths and calmed himself down.
Although he wanted to slap Victor just now, he still felt guilty towards his family.
He didn't want their brotherly relationship to end like this, so he composed himself, walked out of the office quickly, and chased after his brother.
At the hospital entrance, Strange grabbed Victor's clothes and apologized to him: "Hey, listen, Victor, I'm sorry about everything. I wanted to rush over, but something happened in the meantime."
"What's the point of saying this now, Doctor Strange? Dad is already dead. Nothing you say can bring him back."
Victor shook his head at him, broke free from his hand, and walked quickly to the other side of the street.
Perhaps he was too angry and did not notice the car speeding towards him on the other side of the road.
"Oh!"
The black Lexus car hit Victor hard.
The terrified driver even forgot to step on the brakes. After the car changed direction, it rushed straight towards the cafe next to it.
With a loud bang, he smashed the glass and rushed into the cafe. Everything happened so fast, in just a moment.
All Strange heard was a sharp, dull crash, and his brother was lying on the ground.
Time goes back to the present.
Peter raised his head and looked at Strange who was stumbling towards him.
With a bang, Strange knelt in front of his brother and stretched out his trembling hand towards Victor's face.
Gwen looked at everything in front of her at a loss.
After she stood up, she looked at Peter for help, wanting to ask him what to do now?
Peter shook his head at Gwen, indicating that she didn't need to do anything.
"No! No! Victor! No don't leave me, no, why? Why?!"
With a trembling voice, he hugged Victor's face, his body shaking as if attacked by severe cold.
"Why would God do this to me! Victor, it's all my fault, don't... don't leave, please, please."
Gwen, who was standing next to him, felt a little sorry for Strange's pain.
Although she didn't know Strange, she knew that the person lying on the ground must be someone very important to him.
Taking a deep breath, Gwen said to Strange who was in pain: "Sir, his breathing has stopped, but if we take emergency measures now, there should still be a chance."
Strange seemed not to hear Gwen's words and was completely immersed in his own world.
The feelings of pain, self-blame and guilt made his brain seem to have crashed and he could not hear any sound.
"Sir, I can give him first aid, can you please get out of the way?"
Gwen wanted to perform chest compressions on the other person, so she reminded him again.
Strange still didn't respond.
Peter, who was standing next to him, frowned slightly.
He thought Doctor Strange had always been that arrogant doctor, but he didn't expect he had such a past.
The person lying there should be his relative.
Watching a loved one die in front of you can indeed cause a person to have an emotional breakdown.
"Peter?"
Seeing that she was unable to persuade Strange, Gwen looked at Peter for help again.
Sighing, Peter grabbed Strange, who was lying on the ground.
Then he reached out his hand and slapped him hard in the face.
"Snapped!"
A loud slap hit Strange's face, making his ears buzz.
"Doctor Strange, if you don't want him to die, you'd better not lie here and cry like a coward."
Strange, who was given a wake-up call by Peter, stared in shock at the face in front of him that felt extremely familiar.
Then he mechanically turned his head to the side and looked at Gwen who was performing CPR on Victor.
He nodded repeatedly as if waking up from a dream.
"Yes, yes, an ambulance, call an ambulance first, Victor is not dead yet, and I'm a doctor, let me do it!"
As he said this, he struggled to break free from Peter and staggered towards Victor who was lying on the ground.
Just at this time, the ambulance from the Presbyterian Hospital arrived.
The emergency doctor briefly checked Victor's condition and quickly put him in the ambulance.
