Chapter 101 Willingly Take Off the Mask or Fall in Love
"Wow!"
Crows flew out of the woods, disturbing countless fallen leaves.
Peter, standing on the rooftop of Mount Sinai Hospital, suddenly raised his head and looked into the distance.
The view is blocked by the layers of buildings and is cast towards the shadowy mountains.
Looking away, Peter stood on the edge of the rooftop, the mask on his face slowly faded away.
He did not find the body of the deceased that Dr. Ryan had mentioned in the hospital.
He searched the catalog of bodies in the morgue but found nothing.
Did the hospital really dispose of the body?
He held his chin with one hand, lost in thought.
Below where he was standing, in the dark alley, a stray cat that was rummaging through a trash can for food seemed to have discovered something and raised its head to look upwards.
"Meow!"
The cat made curious sounds, looked at the shadow passing by overhead, and tilted its head in confusion.
"Oh!"
The black shadow landed on the top of the building with its feet, and its hands detached from the ground like a lazy cat.
Under her silver hair, her eyes sparkled in the night.
Standing on the roof, looking at the building below, the black shadow jumped forward.
As her body fell rapidly, her arms grabbed the metal bar across the wall and then swung to the balcony with a standard gymnastics move.
The outer perimeter of the balcony is cordoned off, and inside is the jewelry company.
The black shadow casually placed the instrument on the bulletproof glass, then pressed the middle part and drew a circle around the glass, creating a circular cut in the glass.
Reaching her hand in, she turned on the security door switch and entered easily.
After entering the room, the black shadow walked to the safe, used the instrument to operate it, and quickly opened the safe with its assistance.
The safe was filled with glowing jewels, and a smile appeared on the black shadow's lips.
She successfully put the jewelry into her pocket, and just as she was about to leave, she turned around and saw a guy standing in front of her.
"Do you like scaring people like this, Parker?"
The shadow was not surprised by Peter's appearance, she took a step back.
Peter said to the shadow calmly: "Maybe I have a good habit of sneaking up on people."
The thief who stole the jewelry in front of him was undoubtedly the black cat.
"It may be the habit of a good hunter, but I am not the prey."
Peter looked at her in mock surprise, "Aren't you?"
The black cat shrugged, "Of course not, I'm a hunter, but a good hunter always appears as the prey, so some people confuse it."
She walked towards Peter and said, "I heard about your recent achievements. You fought a monster and almost destroyed the Brooklyn Bridge. Now you are a superhero that everyone is praising."
"By the way, is your girlfriend Spider okay? I heard she got beaten up pretty bad by that green monster."
Black Cat is as sharp-tongued as ever.
"She's fine, thank you for your concern."
Peter ignored her teasing and asked her, "Are you going to steal these things?"
"Are you going to stop me, Parker?"
"Do not."
Peter shook his head. “I’m not very interested in being a messenger of justice, but I’m afraid you won’t get your way easily.”
"I know."
Black Cat walked up to Peter, put his hand on his shoulder, and said in a lazy tone: "There is a tracking device in it. I just want to see if I can do it as well as you even if I have that thing."
"Do you know what happens to a curious cat?"
Peter grabbed the black cat's paw that was stretched out to him.
The other party was like a curious cat, stretching out its claws to greet him.
"Yes, but I know how to surprise you."
As he said that, the black cat broke free from Peter's hand, went around behind him, and grabbed his neck.
Peter, who was strangled, grabbed the opponent's arm and threw him to the ground.
The black cat's back hit the ground with a bang.
Since Peter didn't use his full strength, the Black Cat was not injured.
With her back pressed against the ground, she did not resist. Instead, she looked at Peter above her head and asked, "You didn't come here to catch me, did you?"
"Or do you want to talk to me about something else?"
Peter looked down at the black cat who was posing in a sexy pose and asked her, "Have you heard about the monster that appeared in Bear Mountain recently?"
The black cat sat up from the ground, "Is this all you want to talk to me about?"
"So what do you want to talk about?"
Black Cat showed a regretful expression, and her light yellow glasses could not hide her charming eyes. "I just thought we should get along well. I thought you wanted to talk to me about life."
Peter frowned, "Talk to you about life?"
"Of course, although I didn't bring any wine or cheese."
The black cat stood up, jumped back and sat on the edge of the roof, raising his left leg.
"I'm sorry, but I have no plans to talk to you about life just yet, Miss Hardy."
"Ms. Hardy? We're not allowed to be too affectionate while we're wearing masks, but I forgive you."
The black cat accused Peter of being too intimate without blushing. "Okay, let's get back to business."
Seeing Peter's impatience, Black Cat took the opportunity to change the subject back on track.
She sat on the edge of the rooftop and leaned back a little. She said to Peter, "I have indeed heard of the Bear Mountain Monster you mentioned, but many people think it is an urban legend."
"Urban legend?"
"Yes, just like the 'black cat' is now an urban legend, people always regard things beyond their cognition as impossible or the result of rumors, and then comfort themselves by saying 'it's just a prank by bored people'."
The black cat changed its posture with its long legs raised, and stared at Peter with burning eyes, "I'll give you a piece of news for free. Many people have disappeared in New York recently."
She quickly added, "I'm sure the NYPD has noticed it, but I guess their attention has shifted to you and your spider girlfriend. After all, what you did was a bit big."
Peter thought for a moment and asked Black Cat, "Do you know the identities of these missing people?"
"No, of course I don't."
The black cat made an exaggerated expression, "Do you think I'm a prophet? Or that I can predict the future?"
"Any more?"
Peter continued to ask the other party.
“I’ll have to think about it.”
The black cat put down his legs, thought for a moment and said, "Also, some things hidden in the darkness of this city are stirring recently."
“The thing in the dark?”
Peter asked the black cat, "What do you mean?"
"I don't know, werewolves, vampires, goblins, Bigfoot or something like that, or something out of Goosebumps, if you use your imagination, they could be anything."
The black cat shrugged and said, "Although I can't see them, I can feel that there are things lurking in the darkness. I can even feel their prying eyes."
Peter didn't say anything after hearing this, but looked thoughtful.
Although Black Cat didn't know much about vampires, her feeling might be right.
After all, cats' senses are always sharper than those of other creatures.
"All right."
After saying that, Black Cat jumped down from the rooftop, clapped his hands and said to Peter, "It's time. I have to go, otherwise the owner of this jewelry store will be angry and send someone to kill me."
"If you want to see me, you can call this number."
As she spoke, she pulled out a card from her waist pocket and handed it to Peter.
On the black card, a mobile phone number was written in pink handwriting.
"As for me wanting to contact you, Spider."
She walked over to Peter and reached out to touch his face.
"You can pay attention to the Daily Bugle. I will leave you a message there. When you see the message, we can go out on a date. Of course, the prerequisite is that you have to avoid the surveillance of your spider girlfriend."
Peter held the card and frowned at the black cat and said, "Have you always been this crazy?"
"No, of course not. I just get a little wild sometimes, like right now, when I really want to unmask you."
She removed her hands from Peter's face, shook her head gently and said, "But...never mind, one day I will make you willingly reveal it to me."
After saying this, she jumped back lightly.
The black cat jumped off the building, shot out the grappling hook gun, and quickly took himself away from the spot.
Watching the black cat leaving, Peter picked up the card in his hand and looked up.
The night sky has been completely covered by the moving black clouds, and the entire sky has become even darker.
The next day.
Midtown High School.
When Peter entered the school, he heard many people in the corridor discussing the Brooklyn Bridge incident.
Norman Osborn was also brought into the topic.
Many people speculated that his death was related to Spider-Man and Spider-Woman.
"You were a beat off the beat earlier."
Gloria said to Gwen who came in with her.
"Sorry, Gloria."
Gwen, who was carrying a backpack and wearing a trendy white sweatshirt, exhaled a breath of white air and said to Gloria, "I'm the drummer. In theory, the beat should be my job."
"Maybe you've been putting too much pressure on yourself lately."
Gwen's friend, Betty Brandt, who was also the bassist of the band, said to Gwen, "Maybe you could have a corn dog."
Betty Brant has short hair and wears thick black-framed glasses.
Although her looks are largely hidden by her glasses, Gwen still thinks she is one of the cutest girls.
"Thanks, Betty, but I don't think I'll need corn dogs for breakfast."
Gwen thanks Betty.
Gloria said: "We are all sad about what happened at Leeds' house, but after all, no one was seriously injured, which should be the best result."
“I know, I’m just worried.”
She listened to the students around her talking about Harry and felt a little bad.
Gwen's eyes lit up when she saw Peter in the hallway. "Sorry, girls. I'll go first."
Betty and Gloria looked at each other as they watched Gwen run towards Peter.
Gloria shrugged. "Gwen fell in love willingly."
