Chapter 213 Bilgewater - Miss Fortune the Bounty Hunter
The story of Miss Fortune is quite legendary.
If the story of Gangplank, the disaster of the sea, is the history of a pirate leader's rise to power, then Miss Fortune is the one who seeks revenge on this sinful captain.
Like most of the notorious figures who have risen to notoriety in the maze of Bilgewater, Miss Fortune has blood on her hands... but she comes from a different background.
As the daughter of the famous female gunsmith Abigail Fortune, Sarah spent most of her happy childhood in a workshop on an offshore island.
Little Sarah learned how to install the cylinder lock, adjust the trigger axis distance, and even participated in the test shooting of the customized pistol.
Her mother was a legend in the gun-making world, and her custom-made pistols could be found in the collections of many wealthy sea captains.
Sarah was also influenced by her mother's teachings and was very interested in gun making, showing her talent. If nothing unexpected happens, she will inherit Abigail Fortune's career and become an excellent gunsmith.
However, as Abigail Fortune's fame grew, the guns she made became more and more outstanding, and therefore her guns were coveted by some people with ulterior motives and ill intentions.
Among these people was a newly emerging Bilgewater bandit who was called Gangplank by his men.
That’s right, it was the ocean disaster that happened later.
His strength made him confident and conceited, and he was attracted by Abigail Fortune's fame.
Planck asked Sarah's mother to make him a pair of pistols that no one could match.
She eventually reluctantly accepted the order, and exactly one year later on the same day, Planck returned.
And just as everyone expected, he had no intention of paying the money, but instead wanted to trade the goods the way of pirates.
So he covered his face with a dirty scarf - he was here to rob.
The double guns made by Abigail are a masterpiece, not only powerful and accurate, but also elegant and ingenious in shape.
She shouted that he was unworthy of such an excellent weapon. She could see that Gangplank had become a villain who had lost all humanity.
In a rage, Plank grabbed two guns and shot her with weapons she had made herself, then turned the gun on her husband and young Sarah.
Then, for no other reason than out of pure malice, he set the workshop on fire and smashed his guns against the stone, erasing everything Fortune had built from Runeterra.
Sarah was awakened by the pain. Although she was seriously injured, she still crawled out of the burning ruins, holding two broken pistols tightly against her chest. Her body gradually healed, but the nightmares and convulsions would continue to torment her for many years.
Even so, she still endured it all and was determined to take revenge.
This pair of guns, made at Planck's request, was her only remaining wealth. But it was not the only legacy Abigail left for her.
Sarah inherited her mother's knowledge of firearms, and she used it to repair the damaged pair of pistols, which became her weapons of revenge.
After that, she began to find out everything about the masked murderer. And Plank's reputation was well known.
He later proclaimed himself the new Bandit King of Bilgewater, and even the most influential captains were forced to acknowledge his status.
But it didn't matter how much fun he had. When Sarah saw him again, she would be fully prepared.
She arrived in Bilgewater by ship, and within minutes of stepping onto the dock, she had made her first kill, a drunken sailor with a gallon of Malons in his belly and a bounty on his head.
Sarah dragged his body to the wanted poster officer, then tore off a dozen more wanted posters and strode into the city.
In less than a week, more than ten bounties were delivered and redeemed. Anyone who was targeted by Sarah was doomed, and would either be executed or serve a prison sentence.
She quickly became the talk of Bilgewater's taverns and casinos, earning the nickname "Miss Fortune." There was no way Gangplank would notice her. He already had so many bounty hunters in town, what would one more do?
In the following years, stories of Miss Fortune's headhunting exploits spread far and wide, with each new tale more outrageous than the last.
She once drowned the leader of the Silk Knife Pirates in her stolen barrel of rum.
She once taught a dishonest captain a lesson and took away his ship, the Siren.
She also tracked down the "Crazy Slut Ripper", found his lair in the belly of a half-sea monster on Slaughter Wharf, and shot him in the back as he escaped.
Despite his abilities, Gangplank is still too powerful, and the vicious Hook Gang is always by his side, so he cannot be challenged openly - Miss Fortune also knows that killing Gangplank directly would be too easy for him.
Only by letting him endure the humiliation and burning everything he stole to ashes could the girl who died in her mother's workshop be satisfied.
So, over time, she gathered around her a small but loyal group of followers who would eventually help her to rid herself of her old demons.
Miss Fortune launches a desperate campaign against Gangplank.
A series of interlocking schemes turned his ship, the Abyss, into a burning wreck in the harbor, and the tyrannical bandit king was overthrown.
Best of all, everyone in Bilgewater saw him fall. This was Sarah's greatest hope, that everything had gone as she had planned.
It was all over in a moment.
However, Planck did not die in the explosion, and the burning waters did not take his life.
Sarah's revenge is over, but Planck's revenge is just beginning.
His body is covered with scars and one of his arms is amputated. But he has an iron prosthesis and is determined to rebuild his prestige. Gangplank vows to take back everything he once had and punish those who have offended him mercilessly.
……
But for Bilgewater, Gangplank is gone, leaving behind only the smelly bait.
Without Gangplank, rival captains immediately fell into conflict, each vying to take over the city. Bilgewater, which was already lawless, became even more chaotic in an instant, and countless law-abiding civilians were affected by the fighting between gangs.
In desperation, Miss Fortune stepped forward - with the support of her men, in the name of the captain of the Siren, she negotiated with various parties and reached a fragile ceasefire agreement, which miraculously has lasted to this day.
But in this port city, almost nothing is permanent. Miss Fortune, who has become the empress of the sea, suddenly finds that she has to face robbers, gang bosses and hidden threats, and enforce the rules she set for them.
The real battle for supremacy in Bilgewater has just begun.
