Chapter 140 Perhaps Shurima’s Decline Is Inevitable
Nasus had been lost for so long, so long that the people of Shurima called him the Lost Son of the Desert, so long that he had completely forgotten his past life and purpose.
And now his brother has returned from underground with the enemy. It was at this time that the ascended descendant awakened him completely.
And Nasus became more and more certain that Sivir was the person he was looking for.
……
Seeing the scene in which Nasus knelt on one knee with one hand on his chest and swore an oath to Sivir, the audience was infected by his emotions.
Everyone's expression was a little heavy.
There are many hidden secrets in Nasus' words. Everyone thought that the destruction of Shurima was caused by Xerath, but from Nasus' words, the audience heard another history of Shurima.
The keyword "Icathia" caught everyone's attention.
"This piece of history should be before Azir!"
Jiang Wen speculated based on the lines in the film, "What exactly is this Ekasia?"
The unique weapon in Sivir's hand, Charikar, once belonged to an ascender, Setaka. And she must be a very powerful ascender, because Nasus called her the Lord of Ascension, the Queen of War!
Nasus left Sivir and Taliyah before he changed his mind, knowing that the key to their survival was his ability to draw Xerath's men to his side.
"It can even kill them!"
"What kind of monster can resist the Ascended Army of Shurima?"
This former general of the Shurima Empire now has to fight for the people of Shurima.
Only Nasus knew what he had found now.
Even after thousands of years, he could see the similarities between this woman and Azir, the last emperor of Shurima!
……
According to the information we have learned so far, Shurima has the power of the Ascended Ones, which is not mortal power! It is no wonder that they can build an empire spanning the entire continent.
As the wise man of the Shurima Empire and the founder of the Great Library, how could Nasus not understand this truth? Perhaps the Shurima Empire did not fall at the hands of Xerath, but was destroyed at their hands.
But she died in the war between Shurima and Icathia!
Sivir and Taliyah watched him leave, and he never looked back once.
Until more information comes out, the audience won't be able to guess.
In Nasus's eyes, although the injured Sivir looked pale because of the pain of her wound, there was no doubt that she was more like the king of Shurima than the priest standing on the inferior Sun Temple.
But only Nasus knew what they lost in that war!
The Sun Disc bestowed powerful strength and endless life upon the Ascenders, but almost all of them lost themselves. They forgot what they were meant to protect, and as a result, they were deprived of the good name of Ascenders and given another ugly name instead.
The center of the city was already ablaze, and Nasus walked towards it following the screams of the residents of Vikaura.
He walked past the bodies of men and women hacked to death by the soldiers. His rage grew, and it seemed that he had added more items to his old score with Xerath. Nasus rolled his shoulders and flexed his muscles.
His brother had stood beside him the last time he had faced the witch spirit - and a shudder suddenly struck him. "We couldn't defeat him together. How could I possibly defeat him on my own?"
Nasus saw a group of five men blocking the exit to the plaza. They had their backs to him at first, but turned when they heard him draw his axe. Normally, Nasus would have sensed their fear, for the man standing before them was an Ascended warrior, but with the blue fire of Xerath’s will burning in their eyes, they knew no fear.
They rushed at him with bloody swords and spears. Nasus dodged them and swung his axe, severing three of them in half. He punched another through the chest and bit the last's head. Nasus's teeth snapped shut and the warrior's head burst open.
He walked into the square and saw the remaining residents of the city kneeling in front of the Temple of the Sun, their heads pressed to the ground like curled pilgrims, but in front of them were the enemy's swords. The bloody soldiers raised their spears high and stabbed at the terrifying god at the top.
The witch spirit who betrayed the emperor was on fire and suspended in the air. The edge of the sun disk gradually softened into pulp in the fire of the ascender. In the air in front of him was the struggling and screaming figure of the unfortunate priest.
"Mortals are foolish," Xerath said as he peeled the flesh from the cleric's skeleton. "Why do you claim to be the son of Azir, the Useless Emperor?"
“Xerath!” Nasus roared, his voice echoing across the square.
The warriors turned their heads but did not move. Silence fell on the square. Nasus felt Xerath's hatred sweeping over him like a tidal wave. The remains of the Hierophant turned to ash in a heartbeat, blown away by the scorching winds around the witch spirit. Nasus strode forward, axe in hand. Every eye was fixed on him.
"No need to guess, I know it's you." Xerath's voice was like honey, just like when he was still a mortal. "What other coward would lock me underground for a thousand years?"
“I will get you back underground,” Nasus promised.
Xerath's body burned brighter.
"You had your beloved brothers and sisters to help you then. What about now?"
"Tell me, have you seen Renekton since the doors of our shared prison were flung open?"
“Do not mention his name,” Nasus growled.
"Have you seen what he looks like now?"
Nasus said nothing, but Xerath laughed, a laugh that sounded like the screams of warring fire spirits.
"Of course you didn't see it." The fire in Zerath's body flickered with a sinister smile. "He will kill you as soon as he sees you."
Xerath floated down the shattered outer wall of the temple, his limbs surging with flames, constantly scattering like fireflies. The soldiers still stood still like statues. This duel was not designed for mortals.
"Your power originally belonged to Azir." Nasus slowly walked towards Xerath. "You are not the one chosen by the sun."
"Neither is Renekton, and he ascended as well."
“Do not mention his name,” Nasus said through gritted teeth.
"Your brother was weak. Oh, of course. You should have known that." Xerath floated closer. "He fell apart faster than I expected. I only told him that you left him in the darkness. You trapped him with his enemies and left him to fend for himself."
Nasus knew that the witch spirits wanted to provoke him, but his hatred made him want only to tear apart the chains that bound Xerath - the very chains that allowed the witch spirits' terrible power to continue.
They faced each other in the center of the city, two Ascended beings beyond time itself: one the Warrior King, the other the Chief of Sorcerer Power.
